The HOFA Freeware collection is possibly the best collection of free audio utility plugins you didn’t realise you needed. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll get and why you want it.

HOFA 4U+ DynamicTiltEQ

The Dynamic Tilt EQ is an EQ that cuts highs as it boosts lows, or vice-versa. This can be used for an overall tonal change to the audio source between bright and dark.

  • the only available freeware Tilt EQ
  • perfect balancing of low and high frequencies with just one knob
  • variable tilt width
  • splittable bass and treble tilt
  • additional low and highcut filter (6 & 12 dB/octave)
  • individual routing for stereo, mid, side left and right processing
  • up to 32x oversampling
  • upgradeable to the extended full version

HOFA 4U+ BlindTest

BlindTest is fantastic for checking if different versions of mixes or different effects sound better or not. By listening to the different versions completely at random and scoring the best to worst you can make informed decisions with less bias.

  • innovative tool for an objective comparison of equipment (e.g. plugins) inside your DAW
  • shuffle mode that anonymises the tracks
  • loudness compensation
  • rating and note features
  • comparison of up to 3 tracks
  • upgradeable to the unlimited full version
  • Except for the varying number of possible tracks the freeware is identical to the full version.

HOFA 4U ProjectTime

Very useful for paid work as well as just having some idea of how long you’re spending on your projects. A simple concept, perfectly delivered.

  • shows the time which has passed during a DAW project
  • time measurement in hours, minutes, seconds
  • pause function
  • writes log to see when you worked on the project
  • every log entry can be commented
  • works on Windows and Mac with any DAW
  • HOFA 4U ProjectTime starts the time measurement as soon as it gets loaded into a plug-in slot in your DAW (Cubase, Pro Tools, Studio One, Reaper …).
  • The stopped time is saved with the closing of the project. The time measurement resumes by reopening this project.

HOFA 4U Meter, Fader & MS-Pan

  • manual onboard
  • works latency-free and with all common sample rates
  • for PC and Mac, 32 and 64 Bit DAWs
